Part new-build, part recladding of commercial office building, with a slender curtain wall system and perforated metal shading screens.

BREEAM Excellent achieved

70 Wilson Street, a new low carbon workplace development for Stanhope, is a redevelopment of a 1980s office building in Hackney, on the edge of the City of London. The project involved recladding the existing frame and adding two new floors, staggered and shifted to reduce the bulk of the new development.

Eckersley O’Callaghan provided facade consultancy services. Early involvement included resolving the curtain wall system selection and detailing.

The facade features bronze spandrel panels and perforated shading screens arranged across the elevations according to their solar exposure.

After the project had been tendered on a design and build basis, we were appointed client-side as facade consultant to monitor the appointed contractor’s final design, testing and installation.
