Engineers Create | The Engineering Club

Last month we took part in Engineers Create, where our model won the Visitors’ Vote Award, recognising it as a favourite among attendees!

The exhibition brings together examples of ideas and designs to develop and promote the culture of engineering. Organised by The Engineering Club and held at The Crypt Gallery in Euston, the event showcased innovative projects, including our New Hope Tanzania model.

Our exhibit highlighted the ‘Timber Blanket’, a unique timber tension roof system designed for the New Hope Community Centre near Dar es Salaam. Developed to span large distances using locally available small-scale timber, this system combines timber and steel cables into a cable-net structure resembling a jewelled fabric. The canopy’s design was underpinned by complex parametric form-finding techniques.
