Celebrating World Engineering Day 2023
3 March 2023
On March 4, we joined the Institution of Civil Engineers and people all over the globe to celebrate World Engineering Day, which is observed every year as a UNESCO international day – celebrating engineers and engineering, and helping to improve public understanding of how engineering and technology are central to modern life and sustainable development.
The theme for this year is ‘engineering innovation for a more resilient future’. Hear more from Maxime Chollet, Associate Engineer at Eckersley O’Callaghan, as he reflects on the critical role that engineers play in protecting and improving the world we live in.
Engineering is instrumental in shaping our cities, infrastructure, industries and society – helping to overcome some of the world’s greatest challenges. As a company, we pledge to continue investing in engineering education and research, promoting diversity and inclusion in the profession, and encouraging the next generation of engineers to pursue their passions and make a positive impact on the world.
Highlighting the importance of engineering in creating resilience, Maxime has recently been volunteering with SARAID for its deployment in Turkey. SARAID is an independent charity and aid team who specialise in earthquake and building collapse rescue as well as providing community resilience support. Find out more about how you can donate to assist SARAID in its mission to help those affected by disaster.
