Pedestrian Footbridges at The Henderson Nearing Completion

12 June 2024

The three 60m pedestrian footbridges at the bottom of The Henderson are nearing completion. Last month, Associate Nuno Barbedo visited 2 Murray Road, including the banquet hall. We are providing integrated structural and facade engineering for the deck structure, roof envelope, glass balustrades, and metal cladding.

The steel deck and roof structure were designed with very tight geometrical constraints. The double-curved stainless-steel cladding, manufactured by KIKUKAWA in Japan, creates an elegant feature that serves as the main access to the building from the Mass Transit Railway.

The bridge steelwork is supported on a series of discrete column locations that weave through and interface with the new office, requiring precise coordination. The complex geometry of the cladding system is fully integrated with the structure to minimise the overall buildup, meeting the tight zoning requirements.

The bridge is already open to the public and they are finalising some cladding works. We look forward to seeing the project complete!
