One of the largest development projects in the US, with a striking and dynamic mixed-use urban resort in the heart of Beverly Hills which includes 8-acres of botanical gardens.

The facade design encompass a series of high-performance systems with high-end finishes across the retail, residential and hotel portions of the project. We performed extensive research into applicable systems and approaches evaluating aesthetics, sustainability, performance, and durability from schematic design through all stages.

The podium of the project, designed by Foster + Partners features retail spaces and enhancements to the Beverly Hilton including a new lobby, swimming pool and series of poolside suites. The lower level podium facades feature specialty exposed concrete finishes, and a glazed opening that features a kit-of-parts approach where tenants can select from a number of fixed or operable systems within a modular approach. The upper retail pavilions feature lightweight steel canopies with brise soleil elements to limit solar radiation and allow for high clarity glass to be utilized in the retail spaces.

The towers, designed by Kerry Hill Architects (KHA) include a 75-suite 10-storey Aman Hotel; and about 200 condos across two towers, 26 and 32 storeys. The towers opaque facades feature a large-format natural limestone rainscreen system. The glazed portions are intended to have a high-performance slim-framed sliding door system occurs in pocket configurations with invisible sills to allow for a seamless indoor-outdoor space experience in the open condition. The systems are customized and adapted to meet the high thermal and acoustic requirements, and allow for high structural movements and deflections without impacting performance.
